Spacecraft Attitude Determination and Control (ADCS) engineer

Details about the role

An ADCS Engineer is responsible for two tightly linked challenges: knowing exactly where a spacecraft is pointing, and actively controlling that orientation to hit a target. The role is unpaid.

Think of it like this — imagine you're a photographer on a moving train, trying to keep your lens locked on a specific window of a passing building. You need to sense your own motion (determination) and correct for it in real time (control). ADCS engineers solve exactly that problem, but in orbit.

Expectations for the candidate

In this role, you'll work with sensors like gyroscopes and star trackers to estimate orientation, and actuators like reaction wheels to adjust it — using algorithms ranging from PID controllers to Kalman filters to tie it all together.

Requirements: Knowledge about electrical and mechanical engineering, software skills
