Team status: Looking for a members to help us to make a space radio system.
The radio system is the voice of the spacecraft. Your mission is to design, build, and tune the high-speed communication systems that allow our satellite to talk to Earth from hundreds of kilometers away. You will be responsible for the entire physical "link," ensuring that weak signals are amplified, interference is filtered out, and our data arrives home intact.
Ootused kandidaadile
You will take ownership of the wireless heartbeat of the satellite.
Your responsibilities include:
- Design the complete Transmit (TX) and Receive (RX) chains, including filters, low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), and power amplifiers.
- Create the Engineering Model (EM) schematics and layout for a dedicated radio board using high-frequency design techniques (impedance matching, EMI shielding).
- Ensure the radio board plays nice with the rest of the satellite, managing power requirements and data interfaces with the On-Board Computer.
- Select and test individual RF components—oscillators, antennas, and transceivers—to verify they meet performance specs under stress.
- Use advanced tools to measure VSWR, Gain, and Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) to ensure the hardware is ready for the vacuum of space.
Võimalused
RF is often called "black magic," but we just need someone with a solid grasp of physics and a methodical approach to testing.
We expect:
- Experience with PCB tools (like KiCad or Altium) with a focus on high-speed or RF layout.
- An understanding of radio fundamentals: modulation (FSK, BPSK), link budgets, and Smith Charts.
- Hands-on experience with an SDR (Software Defined Radio) or traditional ham radio hardware.
- Comfort using lab gear like a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) and Spectrum Analyzer.
- A "test-early, test-often" mindset to catch interference issues before they reach the launchpad.
